What about a Bed & Breakfast Guest House golf holiday?

A Bed & Breakfast Guest House stay can make for a delightful golf holiday and be much less costly that the expensive golf resorts.  It is also a unique way to personally experience the people, culture, history and hospitality of your destination.  Guest House hosts are friendly and attentive, and the rooms are comfortable.  Breakfasts are generally cooked to order.  And we highly recommend Guest Houses those that are "en suite" (meaning a minimum of toilet and shower in each room).  You find rooms are usually smaller, and beds are twins or doubles.  In fact, many Guest House rooms can be more spacious and luxurious than the accommodations found in some mid-priced hotels.  However, should your preferences be along the line of a country house or deluxe hotel, we will happily book to your personal tastes.

Please Note:  For guaranteed tee times at some courses, a minimum one-night's accommodation in an associated or partnered hotel may be required.

What about driving in the British Isles and other foreign locations?

A number of golf packages include a rental vehicle.  Driving on the opposite (left) side of the road in England, Scotland, parts of the Caribbean, etc is of concern to some travellers.   Well, let's say this....  It's different, but it's fun.   In most of those countries, residents drive smaller cars, and it is usual to have manual transmissions.  For the more adventurous, you can operate the car from the right side, and shift the manual transmission with your left hand.  However, foot pedals are in the normal configuration.  Certainly, automatic transmission cars are available, but generally at a higher rate.  We suggest you opt for an automatic transmission, for convenience, safety and comfort.   Either way, select a proper size for the number of passengers, luggage and golf clubs. For groups larger than four, additional vehicles of larger capacity such as (8, 12, or 16-passenger) minibuses are available. However, for pure ease and relaxation, consider a chauffeur driven holiday.

When driving in England, Scotland or Ireland, don't underestimate driving times between stops. Most roads are not high speed multi-lane highways. Except in the cities, you will see very few crossing intersections using traffic lights. Rather, you will see "round-about's", or circular connectors with exit points to the road you want.

What kind of weather can one expect in the British Isles?

As you are aware, the sea surrounds the British Isles and the weather can be quite varied.  You'll find that the coastal areas are much more prone to rain and sea breezes.  Inland, there is generally less windy conditions.  Golf courses and sightseeing attractions are rarely closed due to bad weather, but it's best to come prepared for all sorts weather conditions when vacationing in the British Isles.   Always pack a sweater, good quality rain gear and accessories, shorts and golf shirts.  The summer days are quite long with sunset around 10.00 p.m. (May to September), so there is sufficient time for two rounds of golf daily (if you so chose), and visitor tee times are available.  And October to April, count on one round per day.  Weather? - Varied, but this temperate climate is quite mild year round.

Should we purchase travel protection insurance?

We highly recommend that anytime you travel, you obtain travel protection.  Travel insurance protects you financially for circumstances beyond your control which can cause delay or cancellation of any part of your trip.
